Creative Reference Monitors

Based on our wildly successful CR line of speakers this refresh was critical for the company to get right.  I hired an outside design consultancy to bring in fresh ideas and a new perspective.  One of the main goals of the project was to enhance CMF opportunities for special editions.  The original CR line, though limited in CMF changes, showed that our retail partners were as excited as we were for the potential customization of the speakers.

Final form

Concept 5 Asheville was chosen for refinement.  After a round of refinement, a CAD surface model completed the deliverable from our outside resource.  I was able to use the model as a starting point for engagement with two Contract Manufacturing teams.  After choosing one of the manufacturing teams I developed the mechanicals and CMF with their mechanical resource to reduce cost and refine DFM.  The new CRX line could now offer us opportunities for limited editions with our other products to provide a packaged experience.
